Cost Controller

Job Description

We have a new requirement for a Cost Controller for a staff role in Aberdeen.

This position is based in Aberdeen city centre, working 37.5 hours per week.

An important role, responsible for delivering all cost control activities within a contract.This role will inform and advise the Project/Contract Manager and key stakeholders on the cost performance of the contract through budgets, forecasts, analysis, control measures and reporting.All Cost Controllers report into the Lead Cost Controller.

This role will prepare and issues client cost reports and deliverables on time and to the expected quality standards including trend and risk analysis with narrative.The role will look to establish and develop a good working relationship with client project controls counterparts and demonstrate exemplary levels of professional conduct and discipline.

You will be responsible for:

  • Attending all cost meetings within the contract ensuring meeting quality and effectiveness is maintained.
  • Establishing baselines budgets, forecasts and the regular monitoring of such
  • The verification of cost estimates prior to client issue
  • Identification and reporting of risk and the management of change, growth and variation
  • Production of regular cost reports in line with business and client requirements
  • Analysis of Earned Value, Value of Work Done, Progress and other metrics as required
  • Preparation of timely and accurate invoicing when appropriate
  • The role will also stand in when necessary for other cost controllers, at the direction of the Lead Cost Controller.
  • It is responsible for compliance with cost control procedures and templates and will support the periodic audit work to ensure consistency of application use.
Desired Qualities / Qualifications
  • Considerable experience in relevant role.
  • Must have strong working knowledge of project controls theory and practices.
  • Degree qualified in Business, Finance or Cost Engineering desirable.
  • Working knowledge of databases
  • Excellent Excel skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail, diligence and self-discipline
  • Delivery focused and committed to achievement of project/company goals.
