Senior Estimator


Job Description

What you’ll be doing:

An important role, responsible for delivering all estimating services, including project change control, within a contract. This role will develop estimates across the service delivery lines. This role will work closely in supporting the Project/Contract Manager and key contract stakeholders by establishing baseline and control budgets, quantification of change and contributing to the continuous improvement of estimating practices, processes, procedures and norm data. This is a working role and a significant proportion of time will be required to provide hands-on estimating activity and support across all estimating and change control activities. The role reports to the Project Controls Manager.

You will be accountable for:

Client: Customer satisfaction, with respect to the execution of the processes, estimating practice and behaviours of the companies Cost Engineer(s) on the contract and customer relationship management with respect to the estimating service.
Management: Feedback of issues, initiatives, and requests for support to the Project Controls Manager.
Service Provision: Effective delivery and documentation of the appropriate processes, management of service and running cross contract estimating and reporting processes. Liaise with project control functions, planning, cost and document control to provide best practice.

You will be responsible for:

This role will facilitate cost, estimating and scope review.
The role will may stand in when necessary for other Estimators, as required.
It will regularly audit estimates, quotations, BoE, reports and deliverables to ensure consistency of application use. It will own and update the procedures and work instructions.
It is responsible for executing all work in compliance with estimating processes.
It is responsible for the optimal use of process and tools and will contribute to the continual improvement of the estimating service.
It is responsible for interfacing with the Cost and Planning Leads to ensure alignment of process, deliverables and systems where appropriate.
It is also responsible for defining the reporting standards and templates of the Estimating Function within the contract.

Leadership Activities

Drive a culture of WeChallenge.
Ensure a robust onboarding process is deployed for all personnel – with specific focus on new starts.
Active participation to ensure team have current and active objectives and development plans in place.
Supporting ‘Exchange Zones’ roll-out and deployment across business area.
Uphold and demonstrate highest standards of professional conduct.
Supporting team development through coaching, mentoring and performance management where required.

What we need from you

Perm position
Full-time – 37.5hrs/pw
Location – Aberdeen across all facilities

Desired Qualities / Qualifications

Cost estimating experience of a minimum 5 years in senior role
Experience within EPC / Projects environment desirable
Demonstrable expert knowledge and application of estimating industry standards
HNC or higher qualifications desireable
Excel Expert
Experience with other estimation packages
Organising, chairing meetings and presentation skills critical
Business planning / commercial awareness
Facilitation experience desirable
Procedure and work instruction writing experience desirable
