Senior Project Planner
Job Description
Team Recruitment is supporting a leading energy operator in the search for an experienced Senior Project Planner to join their Developments and Decommissioning Projects Team. This is a key role supporting world-class field development and decommissioning projects, providing a full planning service to multi-disciplinary project teams.
This is a challenging and varied position, ideal for an established planner with strong technical capability and the confidence to engage across complex project environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, maintain, and manage detailed project schedules for capital projects and decommissioning activities
- Support projects including subsea development and installation, drilling and completions, facilities engineering, and asset decommissioning
- Monitor and report project progress using earned value analysis, S-curves, KPIs, and critical path analysis
- Lead planning workshops, schedule reviews, and stakeholder engagement sessions
- Chair weekly planning meetings and coordinate planning inputs across disciplines
- Lead baseline and re-baseline activities in line with scope changes and project controls
- Work closely with engineering, procurement, production, and asset planning teams to validate assumptions
- Liaise with asset planners to ensure construction activities are accurately reflected
- Mentor junior planners and promote planning best practice
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across planning activities
Desired Qualities / Qualifications
Essential:
- Proven experience as a Senior Project Planner within Oil & Gas or a similar heavy engineering environment
- Expert or proficient user of Oracle Primavera
- Strong knowledge of critical path methodology (CPM) and schedule risk
- Experience producing high-quality planning outputs to tight deadlines
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and proactively
- Strong communication skills (written, verbal, and graphical)
- Experience supporting large-scale capital projects
Preferred:
- Offshore or site experience
- Decommissioning project planning experience
- Experience mentoring or supporting junior planners
Qualifications
- Demonstrable track record in a similar senior planning role
- Minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience
- Degree qualification in Project Management, Engineering, or a related discipline (preferred)
