UK Corporate Accountant


Job Description

Our client is recruiting a UK Corporate Accountant for a 6 month contract in Aberdeen.

Working hours - 37.5 per week

As UK Corporate Accountant you will be responsible for the accurate and timely accounting and reporting of financial information for company UK Corporate ledgers.

You will be working to tight deadlines and will establish and maintain appropriate financial controls in line with company requirements. You will partner with the UK corporate functions including HR, HSE, Payroll, Treasury and IT to provide accurate financial analysis to the management teams to enable informed decision making in all areas of the business but particularly cost control.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage monthly and quarterly financial statements and present the results to relevant teams.
  • Prepare journal entries, reconciliations and maintain integrity of the general ledger and financial data.
  • Prepare monthly & quarterly compliance documentation as required and ensure that the business unit is in compliance with accounting regulations, company policies & reporting requirements.
  • Communicate with and provide departmental financial information and guidance to corporate functions including HR, HSE, payroll and IT.
  • Oversee payroll accounting entries and provide guidance to the payroll admin team.
  • Analysis of expenses and payroll costs with responsibility for the accurate and timely recharge of these to relevant intercompany partners.
  • Coordination of the timely submission of the annual statutory audit pack for the corporate ledgers to the UK Statutory Reporting team.
  • Provide additional support to the UK Statutory Reporting team as required.
  • Manage internal and external auditor requests and queries relating to ledgers activities.


Desired Qualities / Qualifications

Qualifications

CIMA/ACCA/ICAS/ICAEW qualified or working towards (essential)

Experience

Working knowledge within a financial reporting and accounting environment (essential)

Proficiency in all aspects of corporate accounting and all pertinent GAAP rules and regulations (essential)

Strong track record in improving financial reporting processes, including effective use of technology (essential)

Skills, Training and Specialist Knowledge

Computer literacy (including good command of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook)

ERP Systems and Hyperion knowledge (essential)

Familiar with SOX and knowledge of UK and US GAAP (essential)

Ability to take ownership of and accountability over workload management and meeting deadlines (essential)

Enthusiastic with a willingness to resolve issues and ensure technical accuracy (essential)

Excellent communication skills with ability to engage with colleagues at all levels (essential)
