Developments and Decommissioning Document Controller
Job Description
Are you an experienced Document Controller looking to play a key role in high-profile Developments and Decommissioning projects?
We are seeking a proactive and detail-focused Developments & Decommissioning Document Controller to provide a professional onshore Document Control service, supporting projects from creation through to close-out. Working closely with the Project Document Control Lead, you will ensure all project information is managed efficiently and in full compliance with company procedures.
The Role
You will be responsible for delivering a high-quality Document Control function across Developments and Decommissioning projects, ensuring accurate management of engineering, supplier, and company documentation throughout the full project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage project documentation from creation to final archiving/destruction
- Deliver document control in line with company and project procedures
- Maintain and ensure integrity of Electronic Document Management Systems (EDMS)
- Register, issue, track, distribute and retrieve technical documentation
- Quality check internal and external document deliverables
- Maintain Master Document Registers (MDR)
- Control document numbering, revision coding and lifecycle status
- Bulk upload (docloading) and scanning of records into EDMS
- Expedite overdue review/acceptance documentation
- Provide regular reporting (late reports, weekly issue reports, etc.)
- Support project close-out and archiving activities
- Manage controlled drawings and engineering archive records
- Provide training and guidance to project teams on EDMS and Document Control processes
- Support physical records management including offsite storage retrieval
- Promote compliance with Document Control procedures across the business
Desired Qualities / Qualifications
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Experience in a Senior Document Control role within the oil & gas industry
- Strong EDMS experience (Documentum / Webtop / McLaren preferred)
- Working knowledge of document numbering and revision control systems
- Experience managing engineering and supplier documentation lifecycles
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise at all levels
- Proactive, organised and able to meet tight deadlines
- MS Office proficiency
Desirable:
- CPD training in Document Control (e.g. RGU Document Control Foundation)
- Experience providing cross-project support
